LARGE LOT ANTIQUE STERLING AND COIN SILVER FLATWARE , STERLING HAIRBRUSH AND STERLING PIERCED RIM BOWL This large lot consists of (23) spoons - (6) sterling and (17) coin silver. (5) of the sterling spoons are teaspoons and (1) is a souvenir spoon from Gangis B C.; three of the teaspoons are very ornate but carry no maker's mark, one has a lion passant with what looks like a "W" and the fifth is bright cut and made by Hennegen - Bates Co.. The souvenir spoon carries a hallmark of a lion passant and an "R". The (17) coin silver spoons are as follows: (8) teaspoons - (1) by Mulford Wendell & Co., (1) L. Huntoon, (2) by Wm. Patton and (4) very ornate ones that carry no maker's mark. I have taken several picture of these to show the detail...they are really very beautiful; (8) tablespoons - (2) by L. S. Stowe & Co., (2) by V. W. Skiff and (4) by L. Huntoon (c. 1860). The five spoons by L. Huntoon must have been presentation spoons, their handles are engraved "Awarded by Hamp. Agr'l. So.". T are only two teaspoons that I would consider not in very good condition. The rest are all very sellable and in very good condition. I gave up cleaning them and will let the new owner finish the job. The hairbrush is 9 7/8 inches long and is by Gorham. The bowl is 5 1/4" in diameter and is marked as shown in the pictures. The bowl is in excellent condition and has a lovely pierced rim. The brush is in very good condition showing normal wear. The majority of these pieces are monogrammed. This would be a good lot for resale or for scrap. The weight of the sterling pieces excluding the hairbrush is 6.2 ounces on the digital postal scale and the coin silver pieces weigh 13.1 ounces. Converting these weights to grams comes out 547.15 grams. The hairbrush weighs 5.4 ounces so conservatively estimating a silver weight of at least one ounce that would bring the total grams to 575.50. Please ask any question before Wednesday 6/20/07 by 3:00 pm Pacific time. I will be unavailable after that until Monday after the auction ends. Buyer pays $8.95 priority flat rate shipping and insurance. Payment thru Paypal preferred. Payment must be received within 7 days of the auction end.
