- Spectacularly Rare- One Only Available LRRP, 25th Infantry Division - RECON 25th Infantry Division - Tropic Lightning - LRRP Unit. Originally Company F, (50th Infantry) LONG RANGE RECONNAISSANCE PATROL ( LURPS / LRRP ) this unit left Hawaii with the main body the 25th Infantry Division in March 1966 and was located atop the largest of the Viet Cong Tunnel Networks at Cu Chi. One of the more active areas of the entire war Cu Chi and the surrounding jungle was the main entry point of men and equipment entering South Vietnam from the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the west in Cambodia. Cu Chi was also the home to the famed Viet Cong Militia, F-100 Commandos and a very active area for Guerrilla Operations. This Unit was fully Special Forces Qualified and capable of lating for prolonged periods in the field with re-supply or re-inforcement. On the 1st of February 1969 under the CARS order (Combat Arms Reigmental System) which recognised the need for a parent unit commanding LRRP Operations this unit became a Ranger unit - Company F, 75th Infantry (Ranger) - Merrills Maraurder - and remained in Vietnam past the departure date of the main body of the 25th Infantry and returned to join the unit at Hawaii in March 1971.
