Lucille Ball grew up in Jamestown NY.As a girl Lucy's best friend was Pauline Lopus who Lucy lovingly referred to as Sassafrass. Through the years, Lucy kept in touch with Pauline, sending her letters, pictures and updates.Pauline kept all of Lucy's letters in plastic sheathes with all the envelopes as well. When Pauline passed away, the family held a silent auction of these letters and pictures during the week of LucyFest in Jamestown in 1993.This letter is one of the two I won at that auction beating out Ric Wyman the curator of the Lucy Desi Museum. The envelope is postmarked Jan.3rd,2:30 PM 1955,Palm Springs California and is adorned with a 6 cent Air-Mail stamp. The letter reads as follows : Dearest Pauline, your beautiful apron just arrived. You are a very busy angel.I don't know when you ever found the time to applique and make anythingas beautiful as that.Thank you for telling me about Joe Jakagi, I lost her address please send it to me as soon as possible.Don't wait until you have time to write I may never get it.Everything fine , we are now on our mid-winter vacation-5 weeks at Palm Springs then back to work Feb.1st and then unbelieveable as it may sound we are moving from the ranch!!! selling it this spring. Expect to move by Feb 15th or Mar 1st.It is breaking my heart but the valley is so full of people the traffic is killing us.So we are moving to Beverly Hills. Bought a house at 1000 Roxbury Dr. (over) In the meantime Think of you often.Didn't get any XMAS shopping done this year- little Desi was in the hospital with pneumonia the week before Xmas so that's w I spent my time, they had him strapped down by all fours in a pneumonia tent.It was hard on him and terrible on us parents. He's fine now. Love Lucy This is far and away the most personal, historic and valuable piece of Lucy Memorabilia I have ever seen on Ebay.I have seen people pay $6000 for a plate and $600 for a signed check. This Piece Is Priceless! To the winner of this auction, I am including another SURPRISE, signed piece that came out of that same auction !!!!! I will entertain offers. However ridiculous offers will not be responded to. We are downsizing to a smaller home and will be selling hundreds of Lucy items, both personal and collectibles. If you are looking for something special, please send me an email. I DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES GOOD LUCK !!!! HAPPY BIDDING
