Monster Variscite! This HUGE high grade variscite specimen is a rare find indeed. This giant chunk of old stock variscite offers a variety of color and texture. It offers both solid pale and vivid green areas as well as beautiful marbled (spider webbed) areas. This lot is part of a 55 year old private mineral collection, and was originally dug in Lucin , Utah . The mines for this material are either in private hands, or are no longer being mined, so most variscite available today is old stock that has been stashed away! This variscite has not be stabilized or treated in any way, and is the color that nature gave it. It was photographed wet however, to depict the color and detail that can be achieved as a finished product. Most of the composite material has been removed from this specimen, and all six sides have been rough sanded to illustrate how amazingly solid this piece is throughout. It looks to be almost completely useable. We have been holding this one back for a while, because we weren't quite sure what to do with it. Obviously because of its size, it could be slabbed, cabbed, and carved, leaving plenty of material to spare. If you are interested in a "Lifetime" supply of old stock variscite, this beauty is for you.
