This item is a gorgeous collector's plate, one in a set of five from the Lucy Maxym Museum Collection. Reproduced on fine porcelain and issued in a numbered edition exclusively for Corners of the World Inc. The image on the front is created from a plate painted by a Master of the Palekh School of Russian Lacquer Miniature Painting. The plate shows a scene from the Russian story of The Enchanted Frog Princess. It shows Princess Vasilisa at the great wedding feast: "She waved her right sleeve - and swans appeared". The front of the plate is black lacquer decorated in many vibrant reds, yellows, blues and golds. It is for decorative art use only - not for food use. Precious metal pigments used may be toxic if ingested. The back of the plate has this written in Russian: "THE FROG PRINCESS Created from a plate painted by a Master of the Palekh School of Russian Lacquer Miniature Painting. From The Lucy Maxym Museum Collection. no: 5256" Included in this auction are the plate, a storage cardboard box and a sheet of paper with a full explanation of the art, Lucy Maxym, and The Frog Princess story.
