This listing is for an "AUTO-ALTIMETER" made by LUFFT of Germany in the 1960's. It features a dial,(graduated in feet elevation from 0-16,000'),that rotates with rear knurled knob adjust for differences in ambient barometric pressure.Not completely accurate,(off almost 400 feet here, at 12k off by 1000 feet,but I cannot take it apart,is functional,though. Lens is thick plastic,(unscratched) and is 2 1/2" in diameter. dial is 2 1/4" diameter, overall diameter(minus mount lugs), is 2 1/2" in diameter.Dial graduated in feet elevation so no doubt intended for the US market. Vintage is 1960's.Made by the famed German instrument firm of LUFFT. New in he box, never been mounted, waxed paper still on pressure sensitive tape.These were generally installed in VOLKSWAGEN BEETLES, Type"2" buses, Bmw 2002's and the like. Very "space Age" design. Lufft Model number 6103.Accurate for age! GUARANTEED This instrument has been ultrasonically cleaned, then sparingly lubricated with moebious clock oil to provide many years of trouble free service in weather predicting aboard your vessel. Finally it has been precision calibrated in my IDEAL-AEROSMITH calibration chamber to provide complete accuracy.Check out the calibration report for assurance of accuracy.
