RARE LOVELY CHALLIS 1860 SOFT KASHMIR PAISLEY SHAWL This paisley shawl was made around 1860 in France. It is a lovely cream challis shawl, quite large, with design printed on the surface. The colors are glorious and bright. The shawl is very light and soft to the touch, made from light but substantial wool. Not all shawls are equal! This shawl has a remarkably wonderful array of jewel like colors , printed and woven very beautifully. This square shawl has bright saturated colors, a beautiful pattern, the soft texture from the lovely challis wool. The exquisite harmony of the design and fine color of this shawl makes it unusually beautiful quality. The main design features lovely swirling flower, bud and plant designs composed of harmonious saturated colors. It is rare to have the continuity of form in all parts of the design. It has a gorgeous center, which continues into the border designs. The border areas have a lovely flowing paisley design in blue, pink , red , green , white , cream, black, among other colors. The wool that was used is lovely. It is very clean and has no smells and is very soft to the touch . There are no mends, holes, stains. The color is unfaded and there are no smells. The shawl is in stable, strong condition. The colors are brilliant and glorious. The design is unique and fascinating. I do not think I' read more
