This vintage Lustern set is a treasure. Spectacular simulated opals are set in a goldtone lace design. The set comes in the original blue velvet, silk-lined box. Research shows Lustern (Louis Stern Co.) opened in 1871 and closed in 1950. However, the interior of this box is notated in gold "80th anniversary," which would date this set 1951. These box sets are ultra rare, especially from this anniversary year. The extra piece in the pictures is link to the bracelet. Apparently, the owner had it removed to fit a smaller wrist, and fortunately, she kept it. It could be added to either piece for extra room. The necklace is 14 1/2" long, and the bracelet is 6" not including the foldover clasps. The pieces are in excellent condition with slight goldtone fade only on the clasps. The bracelet has a functioning safety chain. The box is in very good shape with only minor smudges on one side. The interior has numerous marks, looks like pencil or pen, but t are no tears in the silk. A stunning set to wear or display!
