PAIR OF DOUBLE STEMMED CANDLE HOLDERS "ART DECO ERA" - BLACK DEPRESSION GLASS Made by: L. E. Smith Glass Company in the early 1930's Pattern Name: Double Shield EXCELLENT CONDITION NOTE: I am listing several unique pieces on ebay this week...................... DESCRIPTION: Pair of wonderful depression/art deco era candleholders made in the early 1930's by L. E. Smith Glass Company. This pattern is referred to as Double Shield and/or Mt. Pleasant in some books. This pattern has not been reproduced or re-issued to date (reference: Luckey's Depression Era Glassware). These candleholders are solid black depression glass with a somewhat "gothic" design. Fits well with other ART DECO pieces....and is a great size for a dinner table setting. VERY UNIQUE...... MEASUREMENTS: 4 1/2" tall (base to end of holder) x 6" long. Oval open base is 2 3/4" wide. The opening for the candle is 1". The candle openings would hold standard "votives" easily (which I like for safety). CONDITION: EXCELLENT CONDITION. no cracks - chips - no scrapes. No wax inside the holders - and appear to have never been used. Note that these are very difficult to photograph without getting a glare on the pictures. These are SOLID black!!! STURDY depression glass candleholders - weighing approx. 1 pound each. THESE ARE DIFFERENT........... I will gladly send you copy of my reference pages with shipment to prove their authenticity.
