GLASS ARTIST M. RHYS WILLIAMS IN HIS STUDIO-CACTUS GLASSWORKS- PRODUCED THIS MAGNIFICENT ART GLASS VASE-PERFECT!

This seven (7) day auction is for a fabulous one-of-a-kind handblown art glass vase from the outdoor studio of M. Rhys Williams produced and signed in 1971. (see /cactus/ ). Beautiful and mesmerizing, the glass surface is aswirl in pulled patterns of multi-colored arches and loops undulating around the body of the vase which is a brilliant ruby red when viewed from inside. With the best efforts and my digital camera, I couldn't capture nor do justice to the spectrum of color on it's exterior. Although it may look like slag glass, it is not. Rhys achieves this opaque rainbow coloration thru techniques of manipulating the heat saturation and pulling the red glass as he reheats it several times. This remarkable vase is in mint condition: no damage, no cracks, no chips, just perfect! And what belies the impressive statement it makes is it's size-a mere 3 3/4" tall; 2 3/4" at it's widest; mouth dia.-2 1/8"; base- 1 5/8".

Rhys Williams founded and operates his outdoor studio Cactus Glassworks in Claremont, CA. He is widely acclaimed for his innovative and unique creations. His beautiful works are to be found in private collections worldwide. He has taught his craft at various colleges in California and at his studio. Rhys is a Master Craftsman it the tradition of the past great glass masters. This is an opportunity to own a wonderful piece of that tradition. Thank you for your interest and bid with confidence.
