US M1840 Light Artillery Saber Ames 1854. Very fine example of this scarce pre-war artillery saber. Guard fabricated with recessed underside to allow insertion of the scabbard. Blade very fine with just a few very minor stains, one nick and one tiny spot of pitting at the tip. US/ ADK/ 1854 on obverse ricasso with Ames Chicopee logo on reverse. Brass hilt, leather and wire wrap all perfect. Scabbard also about perfect with just some light scattered surface rust and absolutely no dents. A really choice example of this rather scarce saber in unaltered form. Grade: 0, Service No.: 0
