The Italian Carcano Mannlicher Combat Knife/Bayonet was first manufactured in the year 1891, as a folding handle bayonet. The short trench knife/bayonet was redesigned in 1938 preceding WW2, to a solid handle bayonet because the folding version was to expensive and required to much time to manufacture. The B ayonet is 11-1/4" overall length with a 6-3/4" blade from tip to cross guard . Blade is aged and has a Natural Finish. The Bayonet release button is tight, in good condition and works as it was designed. The original wood grips are in good condition, tight with no movement . MARKINGS: Upper part of the steel handle is marked with SRF (?) and the numbers M 58689. This very rare bayonet and shelve is complete and original.
