This is a Buck Knives M9 bayonet, with Phrobis III and Buck markings, Buck model number 188. It has the scarce black blade finish. It is 1988 production, made during the USGI contract, having the GI Phrobis III markings on the front of the blade, and the Buck commercial markings on the back side. It is in overall good used condition. It has a subdued black finish on the blade. Unfortunately, it looks like a previous owner took what appears to have been a like new blade, and sharpened it on some kind of wheel, leaving a thin, but noticeable line of scuff marks down the flats of the blade. The knife is very sharp, maybe the sharpest Buck M9 I have ever seen, The scuffing is very pronounced on the tip of the blade, but thankfully, the blade tip looks to be good. I included a picture of each side of the blade. It has a blade fuller, or bloodgroove, on the reverse of the blade. It has the small "step" on the top of the blade just behind the saw teeth. The handle is black. The crossguard is very good, the butt is also very good. The scabbard is excellent condition and is the correct commercial scabbard with the yellow safety warning sticker on the front of the scabbard under the magazine pouch. The scabbard body is green. The magazine pouch on the front of the scabbard is excellent. All snaps are excellent, with most of their black finish. The wire cutter plate is the correct Buck commercial plate, with safety notch. The sharpening stone is good, looks little, if any used. All webbing and buckles are excellent. These are pictures of the exact bayonet you are bidding on. Please review the pictures. This early Buck commercial M9 with black finish and dual Phrobis/Buck markings is tough to find. Even with the blade sharpening, it would make a good M9 collectors piece. It would also be a great one to have if you wanted to actually use a Buck M9, but did not want to put wear and tear on your pristine M9's. I am offering this example with a reasonable reserve commensurate with it's condition. Any serious M9 or Buck Knives collector needs this variation in their collection. Buyer to pay $10.00 shipping by priority mail with delivery confirmation. Payment by Paypal or postal money order. US bids only, NO OVERSEAS SHIPPING.
