10.25" Evervolving Soup Bowl by Victoria and Richard Mackenzie-Childs Presented for auction is the Soup Bowl from the Evervolving Collection by Victoria and Richard Mackenzie-Childs. This piece is from Victoria and Richard's personal collection . It is signed by Victoria. The Soup Bowl is in pristine condition. The shoulder of the Evervolving soup bowl has been meticulously handpainted in a checkerboard pattern using six colors -- a subtle nod to artist Victor Vasarely. In the center, a dark pool of green reactive glaze puddles in the vortex of a hand formed spiral, accented by a platinum border. And in tribute to the gaudy trims on a circus calliope, the floral applied border is richly coated in gold -- almost obscenely so. And yet, the juxtaposition of modern, organic and gaudy bring balance to the whole...eh, Victoria? Evervolving was the last major introduction by Victoria and Richard when they still owned Mackenzie-Childs, Ltd. Evervolving is the culmination of their most innovative majolica experiments -- Taylor, Torquay and MacLachlan. The bodies for Evervolving are all hand built and some of the designs are overlaid with ceramic applique around the edges.
