The complete poetical works by William wordsworth published by MacMillan and co 1905 introduction by john Morley. A beautiful and well preserved award/prize book, hardback bound in red leather with gilt lettering on spine. Lovely, bright marbled end papers. Marbled page edges a bit dulled with age. This book is a bit of a mystery to me. The award label in front says july 1904 and yet it clearly says published in 1905 (typo???). Imprinted in gilt on front cover is an emblem that reads on the outside "we fall to rise are baffled to fight better sleep to wake" with "sandwell" underneath. The label also says"sandwell north Finchley,n). I cant find any record of a sandwell school or college in north Finchley in that time period. Possibly due to London borough boundary changes over the years and I don't know London well enough to figure it out. Thanks for taking the time to look and I'm happy to answer any questions if I can 😊
