This is Madame Alexander's lovely doll FOLK DANCE PORTUGAL with Rooster de Barcelos, #66215, from their International collection. This green-eyed beauty wears an authentic costume inspired by regional folk dance costumes worn for Portuguese festivals and dance exhibitions. Her rooster represents the Rooster of Barcelos, one of the most famous legends and symbols of Portugal. Folk Dance Portugal is in excellent, like new condition. In addition to her rooster, she comes with her wrist tag, paperwork, box, and an added doll stand.In creating the doll's costume, Madame Alexander followed the traditional Portuguese custom of using red as a prominent color for costumes worn by young girls, colorful embroidery, and magnificent patterns. Her apron is embroidered with traditional shapes and floral patterns in bright colors. She also wears her dark hair tucked under a red headscarf, a picot trimmed shawl, red waistband scarf, white tights, and black velvet shoes.Her colorful Rooster of Barcelos is also in like new condition. The Rooster of Barcelos legend tells the story of a dead rooster's miraculous intervention in proving a man's innocence who'd been sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit.
