Exquisite Vintage Madeira Linen on Organdy Tablelcoth, 12 Napkins Rare size cloth, 124 inches by 68 inches, napkins 18 inches square, Never Used Amazing jasmine flowers and scrolling vines motif Swirls of jasmine vines, flowers and berries flow across this etal vintage and never used rare banquet sized tablecloth with 12 matching napkins. This rich cream (color richer cream than pictures could capture) table set is entirely hand done by the renowned seamstresses of the island of Madeira, Portugal. The tablecloth is finest Swiss organdy. The hem is hand appliquéd Irish linen using minute pin stitches (Ponto Francés) , as are the appliquéd flowers and leaves. Berries and small embellishments are done with shadow work stitches (Ponto de Sombra). The napkins are rich, smooth linen with an organdy insert of jasmine and replique hems. The tablecloth is 124 inches long and 68 inches wide. The napkins are 18 inches square. This set is never used with the original polish still intact. One of the original labels (belonging to a set of 6 of the 12 napkins) is still attached. It readsâe No. 129, size 18x18, quant. 6, Made in Madeira, âe and has an insignia of two full skirted women and words âeoePerola Madeira.âe Because it was found unused, this will be sent as-found. It has some storage dust, no holes, stains, tears or snags. I have rinsed one of the napkins that went astray and has a small water stain that came out completely. It is the napkin shown as ironed flat. All pictures are on a dark mahogany table. Some have been slightly enhanced to show the workmanship. These are from the estate of a vintage Madeira and antique linen collector. Please check back as I will be listing more of this lot including Madeira, Marghab, Victorian whitework and linen damasks. Click for my Antique Linen Damask ID guidesAbout my linens All the linens I sell are from local estate sales, private sales, or from my own collection, tfore they are almost never new. Most will be freshly laundered and pressed ~ no starch. Some that are especially delicate, with original tags or potentially more valuable in unwashed condition will be sold as-found and clearly stated in the description. Those items, since all my linens are stored in the same facility, I cannot guarantee as-found linens are completely smoke or odor free . I will state if that smell, or any other such as mold or mothballs, is obvious. I will also point out any stains, holes or worn spots. Shipping, Payment, Returns, Bidding As to shipping, even though I will pack in fresh tissue and, w appropriate, acid free tissue or bubble wrap, I charge only for the actual shipping. I prefer Priority Mail but, if asked, I will ship anyway that may be less expensive. Foreign bidders , please remember to send telephone number as it is required for customs. Returns only if the description is grossly erroneous. If that is the case, and I hope it is not, I will also reimburse shipping. No returns will be made if not reported within three days of delivery and/or if the item has been laundered or interfered with. Bid well and early. Bidders with less than 10 feedback must email me BEFORE bidding .
