You are looking at an Original Mae Starr 1920's cylinder phonograph doll in fantastic working condition with original hair, dress and shoes. The doll has lots of history and was owned recently by the late Bessie & Floyd Seiter. Included with this auction is an original phonograph doll book manuscript that Bessie worked on for many years. The manuscript contains photo's and history of w the doll originated from. "Quote" She was owned by a Lady in Omaha who won the doll as a child for selling the most subscriptions to the Omaha World Herald. Years later the Seiters acquired her from the original family. In 2001 authors Joan & Robin Rolfs (Known for such current book releases as "Phonograph Dolls and Toys" and "Nipper Collectibles") dedicated a book with Floyd Seiter to Bessie comprising information from Bessie's original phonograph doll manuscript. The book was released in 2001 and was titled "Phonographs That Talk and Sing". Included with this auction are the original manuscript and t he autographed book with many of this Mae Starr's photos. The doll includes 2 cylinders Crank her up and she plays well and looks great! The eyelids close properly when she is laid down. The legs have slight surface crazing on the sides with no structural effect and do not detract from the doll. Fingers have slight surface chipping which is expected for doll of her age. *The antique wicker chair is included. This is an opportunity to acquire a fantastic phonograph doll with great history!
