You are bidding on Al Capone's, solid 14K, personally worn, monogram diamond pinky ring with "AC" initials. Al Capone was the most infamous gangster and America 's best known gangster of all time. He is one of the most recognized names in American history. Many movies and books have been made about him. Capone was a modern American criminal and was able to build an organized crime enterprise. Capone controlled speakeasies, bookie joints, gambling houses, brothels, horse and race tracks, nightclubs, distilleries and breweries at a reported income of $100,000,000 a year. He even acquired a considerable interest in the largest cleaning and dyeing plant chain in Chicago . It was said that Capone had convinced many Prison guards to work for him, and his cell boasted expensive furnishings which included personal bedding along with many other amenities not extended to other inmates serving lesser crimes. His cell at Eastern State Penitentary was carpeted, and also had a radio around which many of the guards would sit with Al conversing and listening to their favorite radio serials. His friends and family maintained residence in a nearby hotel, and each day he had several hundred visitors. Please see Al Caponeâe(tm)s lavish prison cell in the picture below. Capone surrounded himself with his most trusted mobsters. Frank Nitti , 'Machine Gun' McGurn , Tony "Joe Batters" Accardo . Trust was everything. If you couldn't trust your bodyguards, you would end up whacked. Capone's trust was well placed with his men. The general public also loved Capone. Al Capone was cheered when seen at public events One night Capone made a wise crack remark about the sister of Frank Galluciano, and Galluciano slashed Capone's face with a pocket knife, leaving three large scars on the left side of his face. For much of his criminal career, newspapers would call Capone by the hated name "Scarface". Incredibly, Capone chose to forgive Galluciano and, years later, hired him as a bodyguard. Al Capone was the original "Scarface" Mickey Cohen worked for Al Capone. One time Mickey Cohen did a good job on a favor for Al Capone and Al sent for him. While my father was Mickey Cohen's right hand man he obtained several very rare and personal items from some of the biggest crime figures ever. In January of 1972 Mickey was released from the Federal Penitentiary. Jim Smith picked him up from prison and was with him everyday for the rest of Mickey's life. Jim Smith is shown wearing the plaid jacket in the pictures below. This picture was taken from the book Mickey Cohen "In My Own Words" Mickey Cohen was Ben "Bugsy" Siegel's right hand man. After Ben Siegel was knocked off by his Syndicate partners for skimming from the Flamingo, Mickey Cohen took over the mob's West Coast. He took over for Ben and was very successful. "I took over from Benny right away on instructions from the people back east," he said. "Naturally, I missed Benny, but to be honest with you, his getting knocked off was not a bad break for me. Pretty soon I was running everything out "Cohen's famous quote was "I never killed a man who didn't deserve it." Cohen hung around with all of the Top celebrities and political figures.
