Magic Action Light-O-Matic Elgin American cigarette case with built in lighter- in the original box. This still has the original lacquer finish over the chrome plated brass! It is a very clever case, after you open it to remove the cigarette and snap it shut, it automatically triggers the lighter! Flint is still in place with wick, sparks well, just needs lighter fluid. In excellent condition, very slight age appropriate wear, lacquer finish shows a little spotting on the back. Operates beautifully, hinges and cross bar are still stiff with newness, and it snaps shut securely. Measures 4-7/8" x 3-1/4". Hallmarked inside on the cross bar "Pat'd 151271 Elgin American Made in U.S.A. Magic Action Light-O-Matic". The original box is baby blue fabric covered with blue satin liner and measures 5-1/2" x 4" x 1-1/8". A really special piece of Tobacciana. Circa 1940-50. Patent date October 5 1948 Design #151,271. See Google Patents web site. Designers were David M. King- (Chicago, IL) and Albert Wewetzer- (Elgin, IL). Patent applied for on April 11, 1947, term of patent was 14 years. A neat old piece of Tobacciana! These are extremely difficult to photograph with out reflection, the images do not begin to give this fine case justice. $7.95 US ship/insure.
