Old MAGNES CALC APOTHECARY Limoges FRANCE JAR NR
KEEP IN MIND WHEN BIDDING THAT THIS ITEM HAS NO RESERVE !!! DESCRIPTION : This auction is for a very neat old and possibly rare haind painted Limoges France porcelain apothecary jar. This great jar held Magne Calc an unknown substance for curing some ill around the late 1800s. I believe that it stands for a mixture of calcium and magnesium!?!?!? This wonderfully painted jar has a rampant lion on each side of what looks to be a Greek or Roman physician. There are two gold snake that dangle from the top arch of the shield design. This jar has the green mark for W G & co of Limoges France. This tall jar is about 10 ½ inches tall. The gold on the lid is almost gone from wear and the same with the gold around the base. There are some minor scuffs and scratches to the rest of the design but still looks great and would definitely be a welcomed addition to your collections of apothecary or medical or even quack items. I know this company was well known for making barber shop mugs as well. Keep in mind that this is hand painted. FOREIGN bidders shipping is expensive but worth it! I send everything by United States PRIORITY MAIL. This type of shipping comes with up to $60.00 insurance and TRACKING ! These are all needed by eBay new policies. So foreign bidders if that is a problem do not bid because there is NO bargaining on the shipping. If in doubt ASK QUESTIONS. Don’t miss out on this neat old and possibly rare item at the last minute BID EARLY !! If pictures do not load, try the refresh button. If they do not reload, contact us and we will try to get you pictures if time is available.
