Magnet-Lampe German WWI era pocket flashlight with the original box is in excellent condition. This flashlight was meant to hang around the neck and when the chain cord is pulled it charges itself and gives a very brief charge of light. I did an internet search and it indicated that it was meant to give a very brief shot of light. According to the information this flashlight was given to German soldiers and the light was only suppose to last about 5 seconds (although this one doesn't give light that long perhaps because it hasn't been used or is so very old). The 2.5 bulb does light though when the chain is pulled. Even the rope to hang the flashlight around the neck is original and is held on by metal holders to rings on the flashlight. The lens is very, very thick and the metal on the front is impressed "MagnetLampe" in script. The lens has an outer metal piece which can be unscrewed to change the buld.
