Welcome to my auction! This MAGNIFICANT SET OF ANTIQUE NESTING TABLES. This set includes 4 tables in a dark wood with amazing Oriental figures and scenes hand carved in a lighter color wood on the tabletops and all 4 sides of each table. Each table has a glass top ¼" thick. Dimensions are: The larges table measures: 20" x 14" x 24" tall, middle 2 tables measures 16" x 12" x 20" tall and 12 ½" x 10 ½" x 16" tall And the 4 th , smallest table 9 ½" x 9 ½" x 12" tall These tables were acquired at a very fine estate sale in Northwestern Pennsylvania and were in the family for many years. According to the family, they were stored in an upstairs storage room under a drop cloth and not used for many years. They are well constructed with highly detailed oriental people and scenes on the tabletops and scenes on all 4 sides of each table. I'm sure the detailed carvings tell a story of life in ancient China. All tables are in excellent condition for their age as can be seen in the photos. The dark wood is deep and rich in color. The hand carved scenes in the lighter wood (about ½" deep) depicts quality craftsmanship and are a wonderful compliment to the dark wood. The Glass Tops have protected and kept the carvings well preserved through the years. I see no signs of repair, or any cracks or splits in the wood. They are sturdy, well-constructed and beautiful pieces of furniture. They are in the excellent, well preserved condition I acquired them in. I believe they are from the early 1900's to 1950.
