You will not find a more beautiful Pater Noster anyw! These are the darkest purple, prettiest 8mm faceted amethysts I have ever seen. Each gorgeous purple bead is separated by sterling stars and round beads and small faceted amethysts. The relatively plain sterling cross is 2 inches long with the dove of the Holy Spirit on top and the Sacred Heart in the center of the cross. At the other end, a 1/2 inch sterling cone holds a lovely silver floss tassel. The overall length is approximately 40 inches. All parts on this new, handmade rosary are new. All metal parts are sterling silver. You will pray an Our Father on each bead, thus the name "Pater Noster." In olden times people in the congregation who did not understand the mass in Latin would pray with the Pater Noster while they attended. Pater Nosters come lengths that are usually multiples of 50 beads, with the longest usually 150 beads. They are believed to be forerunners of rosary beads. The tassel was used to wipe the tears of the user. As the beads moved through the hands, they made a distinctive sound which gave rise to the phrase "pitter pater."
