Antique German Bisque Head Max Oscar Arnold (circa 1878-1925) 250.5 Welsch Doll. This shoulder head doll is absolutely gorgeous! This is a big heavy chunky dolly faced doll. She has enormous chocolate brown glass sleep eyes (non-working, as weight inside head is missing). She is wearing a very long dark brown human hair wig, a bouquet of flowers in her hair, and a gorgeous lacy pink dress with bows, ribbons, pantaloons, a slip dress and faux pearl buttons. On the front is a reproduction French BEBE pin. She has no breaks on her shoulderhead, but slight little surface scratches to her face which is not noticable unless really scrutinizing her. She has a pretty little dimple on her chin and 5 porcelain teeth, multi-stroke painted eyebrows and painted lashes. She is on a big heavy body with riveted joints (see pictures). I purchased her at Jackson's Auction House and the auctioneer said she was on a kid body, but I feel it may possibly be kidlyne. Whatever it is made of is very sturdy and appears to be in good solid condition. On her left hand the tip of her ring finger and pinky are chipped. The hands appear to be made out of composition. On the tag which came from the auction house it reads Christmas 1922. Apparently she was given to some lucky girl in 1922 and was very well kept. She is large and measures approximately 24 inches tall. I am not a doll expert so please ask questions before buying. I have described her the best I could. I heard that In 1908, the German doll maker Max Oscar Arnold, took a patent in Germany and Great Britain for a talking doll called the Edison Talking Doll. I ship worldwide and prefer Paypal payments.
