RRP. $US1,900.00 DESCRIPTION:A rare opportunity to acquire an ancient Chinese painted pottery horse & rider, dating to China's Han dynasty, circa 2,000 years ago. Standing four square with head up & ears pricked the horse is painted in the original black pigment with a decorated saddle blanket adorning its back in much of the original red & white pigments. The rider has pink pigment applied to his face, with eyes & eyebrows in black & lips red. He wears a long sleeved tunic with circular skirt, in the original bright red, black & white colors, over red & white colored trousers, see photos. A black strap helmet is on his head with a bright red band around the forehead. His hands are molded as though holding reins. SIZE: CONDITION: Tail re-glued. Please view images carefully.
