This is an INCREDIBLE, MUSEUM QUALITY Chinese cinnabar lacquer box - circa 1880.The central motif on top of the lid depicts an immortal with a deer - seated inside a longevity symbol with dragons on both sides and a planter with corals underneath.All around the outer rim of the lid and body, t are several figural scenes depicting human figures in daily life activities - scrolls, flowers, abstracts and key pattern complete this EXTREMELY WELL CARVED box.The bottom and inside are covered in black lacquer.The bottom bears 2 signatures - a stamp and an incised signature reading 'QUIEN LONG' Condition is EXCELLENT with minimal age ware.It measures an IMPRESSIVE 13 ½" in diameter - 42"!! in circumference.
