Up for auction is one magnificent carved wooden bowl. This vintage bowl is indigenous to the Turkana and Pokot people of northern Kenya. It exhibits cracks that add to its look and feel. It as a wonderful patina. The bowl is hand carved from local wood, generally by the women of the tribe. The Turakana use the bowls to collect blood from cow by a non-mortal piercing of the jugular vein. The blood is then mixed with cow’s milk. The Turkana way of life is rapidly changing and these types of everyday items are becoming quite scarce. This particular bowl measures 10.5 inches in length, is about 4.5 inches tall and is about 5.5 inches wide. You will not be disappointed .
