If you have a Victorian property - then this is one of the finishing touches. An absolute beautiful example of Victoriana at its best. This really is an outstanding clock made around the 1880's. It is a very good size and would fit nearly anywhere and is a very attractive piece visually and a very sound investment. This very stylish and small clock is made of superb and dense black marble with the most beautiful lustre. This would have undoubtedly been made of the finest stone that was available in Belguim....possibly the Theux variety. Most importantly, it has not been coated with anything and still retains its original lustre. It has an unusual high amount of marble inlay, complemented by the two marble columns. The outstanding gold and guilded engraving with such attention to detail are again, a rare find. The dial is 4 inches wide with a very ornate brass bezel, black Fleur De Lis hands and black Roman numerals. The Brocot visible escapement been completely stripped and repolished - it is very unusual to find one of such a small size. Dimensions 11 inches wide 14 inches high 6 inches deep The French eight day movement It chimes on a gong most delicately, with a lovely sound that records the number of hours and the half hour.
