It is our pleasure to present, for your consideration, this magnificent, fine quality, Ornate Walnut Victorian Marble Top Parlor/Center Table with Burl Accents and Massive Acanthus Finials (Circa: 1870). This beautiful Parlor Table weighs approximately 85 pounds and measures 28 ½" in height, 33 ¼" in width, and 26 ¼" in depth. The attention to detail given to the design of this very Ornate Victorian Parlor/Center Table is fabulous and the patina of the rich walnut wood is lovely. While we could find no labels, this magnificent Table was undoubtedly crafted by one of the finest maker's of the period (e.g. such as Pottier and Stymus) and it's quality more than speaks for itself! The beautiful turtle shaped, burl-clad picture frame top encases the rich Tennessee Brown Marble. The marble is in excellent condition both aesthetically and structurally with only one small old repair near the edge that is mostly covered by the picture frame and not easily visible. Again the attention to detail given to the design on this special Table is truly exceptional! The border of the lovely table top is adorned with elegant scrolled aprons with pierced and incised carved center leaves. These elegant scrolled aprons are repeated on all four sides. If this wasn't enough, it keeps getting better. The corner of the table top are graced with the most impressive, massive, bulbous acanthus-carved drop finials that we have ever seen. These bulbous acanthus carved finials are truly spectacular! The elegant design details are continued on the table base. The table top is supported by a base consisting of a powerful masterfully turned center post with a distal round pyramidal finial. This impressive turned center post is surrounded by rectilinear incised carved pillar posts with crown capitals and pediments that transition into the beautiful scrolled legs. The profiles of these beautiful scrolled legs are graced with raised, curved, rectilinear incised carved knee shields in a classic Renaissance Revival Design. Incised carvings are also found on the insides of the legs along with additional raised incised carved medallion panels that sit above incised carved stylized wings on the inside. Finally, the elegant scrolled feet rest upon brass castors for ease of movement. This very ornate table appears to be wearing its original finish and all of the gorgeous carved ornamentations appear to be intact.
