This clock is on page 85 of Tran Duy Ly's book titled "Longcase Clocks and Standing Regulators." The description on that page is as follows: No. 1214 Size: High, 93 in. Wide, 24 in. Deep, 17 in. Mahogany Plain Glass Equipped with movement No. 83 ("B" Dial) The description of the movement (Page 70 of the same book) is as follows: Domestic Eight-Day Three Chime Nine Tubular Bell Movement This movement with solid brass plates, measuring 6 1/2 X 8 1/2, renders at each quarter either the Whittington chime on eight, Canterbury on six or Westminster on four 1 1/4 - inch tubular bells, and strikes the hour on the ninth. Movement is self-adjusting, that is you can turn the hands backwards or forwards without shutting off the chime or strike and it will chime and strike correctly when it gets to the hour. It has steel cut pinions, Graham dead beat escapement, maintaining power, brass cables, key wind, three large weights, eight-inch pendulum ball and steel pendulum rod. Chimes and hour can be silenced, or chimes changed from Westminster to Whittington or Canterbury by shifting levers on dial. Dial A heavy brass dial, 13 X 19 inches, mounted with raised silvered hour ring, arch ring, second and setting circles. Hour, second and setting circles and hemisps, nicely engraved. Finely finished gilt raised hour figures beveled. Saw-pierced, chased and engraved gilt corner and center ornaments. Hand-painted moving moon-wheel showing marine view and landscape. Movement by Herschede. Colonial did not make their own movements, and produced quite a few clocks using Herschede movement. Circa: 1920
