EXQUISITE SOLID MAHOGANY BANDED INLAID DROP LEAF EXTENSION TABLE WITH SIX SOLID MAHOGANY CHIPPENDALE STYLE CHAIRS MADE BY BOSTON'S BEST CUSTOM FURNITURE MAKERS! The finest mahogany set in our inventory! We are pleased to present you with this super high quality solid mahogany table with banded inlay and six Chippendale style chairs. The table was made by the Charak Furniture Company (despite the tag being removed years ago we know this table very well) and is part of the Beacon Hill collection produced by Charak. The six solid mahogany Chippendale style chairs were made the Paine Furniture Company also of Boston . We just got this table in and had the chairs in our inventory. This makes a super set! This is a very special table and Charak is the last word in the finest of Boston 's custom made furniture. This is a drop leaf extension table. To open and use it as a dining table you turn the entire top which swivels on the base on this table. Under the table are two screw-down locks which holds this table rock steady and then you open it on the sliding track system that just glides right open. The table has two 15½" leafs and brand new table pads that cover the entire table. The table has a fine banded inlay running around its entire edge. We note again that this is a remarkably high quality table equipped with every detail right down to the leaf box that accommodates the two 15½" leafs. This table is capable of folding down to 20½" wide and opens to 78" long. The table is 40" wide and 30" tall. This table sits on a four leg federal style base and is a very solid substantial piece. The chairs have all been recovered in a fine patterned fabric by our staff and together this makes the perfect apartment or condo sized dining set while not giving one inch in fantastic quality. The chairs and table are made from the choicest grades of mahogany. One of the leafs appears to have a sun spot on it, but otherwise both table and chairs are in fantastic condition. FURNITURE WOODS 101 : We get a lot of questions on whether or not the furniture we list is comprised of solid wood or veneered. We would like to take this opportunity to give our customers a brief explanation of the construction of antique furniture. Most specialty cuts of wood i.e., tiger maple, bird's eye maple, tiger oak (a.k.a. quarter sawn) crotched mahogany, Cuban mahogany, burled walnut, flame birch, flame cherry, etc., are applied to furniture via veneers. These choice cuts of woods are prohibitively expensive that they very rarely used these in solid wood form. However, t were exceptions to this. When we are fortunate to encounter one of these exceptions, we try to be clear in identifying the solid wood construction. In most cases, these woods are no longer available at any price. If our listing doesn't state that it is made of solid wood, then the furniture was made from a combination of veneers and solid secondary woods. We list the specialty woods in our listings first, as that is the most prominent feature. Please read descriptions carefully and look at all photos. Ask any questions that you may still have. Requests of additional photos are encouraged, as we are limited to the amount of space allocated for photos. We hope this clarifies for you some of the mystique involved with buying antique and vintage furniture.
