Details Below!!! Mahogany Secretary Breakfront Bookcase 's a great Mahogany China Breakfront Secretary, 1930's in age. This is a very handsome piece, styled in traditional Federal form. The top section has 2 center doors that open to 2 shelves and 2 door on either side, each with 2 shelves as well. The base has a 4 drawer center, with a drawer over a cabinet on either side. The hardware is all original. Drawers and doors, all work fine. This piece came to us needing some TLC. The veneer was lifting off the sides of both the top and bottom. Most dealers would have passed on this piece. We re glued the veneer and took care of a few other minor problems. All is tight and the piece is absolutely solid. The finish is original and in very good, overall condition and the color is very good. T are some old fractures in the veneer, on the sides and across the top. Examples are visible in a few pictures. T are a few other minor dings, usual with age. If you're looking for prefect, pristine, keep looking. If you're looking for a big beautiful antique breakfront, with a bit of character from age, you found it. This piece is 80" high, overall, 57" wide and 17" deep. The base is 36" high. READ ON! The top has a pediment trim similar to Drexel. T's an example of the veneer fracture in the picture below. The lower right shows a small ding on the corner. The top center drawer in the base is a secretary drawer, with a drop front writing area. The interior has a center door with letter slots on either side. The writing surface is in very nice condition. The desk is 27" high when opened. The writing surface is 15" deep form the center door. The drawers are dovetailed and the interior wood oak. T picture below shows a few more veneer fractures. This old veneer is very thick. It was no problem to re glue. It 100% tight. None of the fracture areas are loose or lifting. Most are on the sides of the cabinet and shouldn't be issues for most buyers. This is a beautiful breakfront, that has a real presence. We point out the flaws to deliver know surprises. They are truly just character and take nothing away form the stately appearance. It will easily sit with other mahogany. Start a room around it or showcase your fine collectibles. This is solid cabinet. We got a good buy because it needed work. The work is done and it's priced, condition considered. These large cabinets have sold for $900 to1200.00. This one is a lot of cabinet for the money! The Opening Bid is $350.00! NO RESERVE!
