Fresh from a lovely western Maine estate sale and auction, tonight I'll be listing a number of interesting antiques, collectibles and goodies including this Native American Indian beaded or beadwork match safe or match holder with beading dating it to 1903...clear, white turquoise glass beads all hand sewn onto a rosy chintz fabric backing, three dangles of strung beads decortae the bottom...measures about 5" high and about 3" wide, hand stitched edges..a holehole at the top has some light fraying, back has a faded peach color fabric that has some sort of age stain, but overall it is in very good condition with the front being beautifully beaded and clean...the bucket like portion in the front would hold the wooden matches...these charming Indian beaded pieces are becoming rarer to find, they were sold by Native American Indians as souvenirs to tourists at the turn of the century...the first of a small collection I have purchased...$6.00 US shipping.
