Beautiful Old Majolica Pottery Pond Lily Compote with Storks on Base. The large tray is decorated with large green Pond Lily leaves and a white flower in the center. The flower center is brown. The ground around the flower is also a brown color. The green leaves have nice vein designs. The plate rim is scalloped. The plate is decorated in relief. The green compote stem has a long, slender water leaf design. Around the stem are three tan and green colored storks. The base is a mottled green and brown color with heart designs. The bottom part of the plate is a mottled green and brown color, and the bottom part of the base is a yellow color. The compote is not marked. SIZE: 6 1/4 inches high x 9 inches wide. CONDITION: Due to age and use, the compote has some wear and crazing. The compote stem has been repaired at the bottom part of the plate, and at the storks' feet (reglued). There is a spot at the bottom part of the stem with pottery loss, missed color and missed glaze. Very decorative piece.
