This is a Jefferson nickel that is struck off center. It should have been a cull but it made its way to me. The visible part of the date is 996. The date is followed by the "P" mintmark. The date, mintmark, jacket collar and pony tail are well defined. So are the initials - "FS" - under the back of the shoulder. The reverse shows most of the "E" in the motto. "E Pluribus Unum" is raised w/o wear either, as is the top of Monticello.I have seen coins marked as a 70% off center coin selling for $75 and up. Those all have the full date visible, so this coin must be over 70% off center. The last picture is a shot I took to try to show the difference in the thickness of the coin part as opposed to the unstamped blank part - it just did not turn out very good. Sorry.I don't think it was ever in circulation but may have been in a coin bag, as there are very fine scratches on both sides of the blank.Free shipping: The coin will be in a dollar folder, with a sheet of paper folded over it letter style, and shipped in a #10 envelope, 1st Class, unless you require more packaging (at added expense)
