AUGUST - ending FRIDAY 20th AUGUST - in the evening - don't leave the house that night!! ********************************************** "Paris 1958 " Amazing collection of an artists work, 23 works on paper, approx. 10.5 by 16.5 inches each. Absolutely stunning album/ sketchbook of expressionist drawings and one oil painting, together in this album. The whole album is by one artist - annoyingly of whose identity I do not know. Judging from the quality within, he/she will be known as these are expressionist works of enormous quality and high standard. T are three individual works that leap out for me - the view of the lady seated and our view over her right shoulder - the abstract oil painting - and the chiselled features of the portrait of a man. You may have your favourites but those three leapt out to me as being works of significant quality and potentially by a great artist. Only the oil painting - the abstract is signed and dated. The signature is illegible but the date is clearly "58" and also the word "Paris". Any number of expressionist painters were in Paris at this period but it is clearly possible with some research to unearth the identity of this painting, I am sure. The pages read more
