Presented today is this HUGE Makah polychrome basket, measuring over 12 inches in diameter and six inches tall. Depicted on the basket's exterior is an American Flag (a rarity in Makah baskets), a war canoe, a vulture, and what appears to be a ceremonial Raven mask in profile. As beautiful and rare as this basket is, it is very much a good-news/bad news item. In pristine condition, this basket would easily be worth $3,000, but it has major damage to the rim and along the base, as can be seen in the photos. That's the bad news, but the good news is that someone will win a truly world-class basket at a fraction of that amount, because of it's condition. It still displays beautifully, and professional repair is not out of the question. Now, it's authenticity is beyond question, and remember my personal guarantee; if the buyer is unsatisfied for ANY reason, i will immediately return the full purchase price, including the shipping.
