Makkum Pottery is often confused with Delft Pottery. Makkum Pottery is made by "Royal Tichelaar Makkum." (Look up: "Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum") It is the oldest company in the Netherlands still in business today. It Started in 1594 with making Bricks and later they ventured in Tiles, Pottery and Ceramics. All the pieces are beautifully hand painted and individually signed by their artists.These pieces up for bids today is probably from the 40's or 50's and is in excellant condition. This type of piece is called Polychrome. The saucers are 6 1/2" round and the cups are 3" high The bottom has the #726 and is signed XS by the artist. All four pieces have the same marking.
