African Malchite A beautiful Malachite carved pair of owls - Zambia, Africa. Malachite ranges in color from light to dark green and is a by-product of copper. Copper is a major export for Zambia and other African countries. Sadly, Malachite is being melted to gain the last remnants of copper and is becoming more scarce. The owl pair is very nicely carved and polished with a good feel to the gemstone. A wonderful example of Malachite green color variations and banding. The owls measure 2.5" across at the base x 2.25" in heightMalachite's charm is especially appropriate with children, warding off evil spirits to allow the child to sleep peacefully. Malachite draws out impurities on all levels, balancing left and right brain functions and treating mental illness. It is also used as a radiation eliminator.
