This auction is for a Mantua 2-8-2 Mikado steam locomotive with Vanderbilt-style tender which was probably manufactured in the 1980s. The model is complete and all original except for the motor, which has been upgraded with a Sagami can motor. Except for the motor, it is "standard Mantua" for the 1980s--die-cast boiler and plastic tender body with die-cast floor. There are no dings, dents, scratches or missing detail parts that I am aware of.The model is factory-painted and lettered for Great Northern #2557 in GN's classic "Glacier Park" paint scheme from the 1920s. The boiler, cylinder block and cab have numerous paint flakes and rubs which could be touched up with a brush, and the boiler handrails could be painted to improve the model's appearance. Overall, the model is in excellent condition. There is no evidence of any metal fatigue or deterioration, as sometimes occurs with these models. The model has been completely disassembled and cleaned. The wheels and all electrical connections were polished (see photos #7 and #11). The model was then lubed and tuned, and it runs smoothly in both directions on my test track. There is no headlight lamp and no coupler mounted on the rear of the tender. The model does not come with its original box, but will be well-packed to ensure a safe delivery to its new owner. I have other HO items listed now as well, including other vintage steam locomotives, so please check them out. Buyers outside the continental United States pay actual shipping costs only (no handling fees), to be determined after close of auction. I will gladly combine multiple purchases to save shipping costs. Check my feedback--100% positive--and .
