TIMBER TAPERING Tool strip clamp & hull holder by MANTUA/PANART, Italy When planking the hull of a ship model it is advisable to use a vise like tool to hold each strip of wood as it is tapered long it's length.A free hand cut can be effected by the grain of the wood resulting in a twisted or irregular cut.This strip clamp is made of fiber glass injected nylon with a metal clamp that holds the unit securely to the table. The steel jaws hold each strip in perfect hiroontal alignment so that it can be tapered with any sharp blade. This special tool performs like a vise except that the jaws can be adjusted to clamp on an angle (to accommodate tapered items such as spars). A quick release lever speeds the re-clamping process once the jaws are initially adjusted. Designed to be clamped on the edge of a workbench ( Clamp incuded ), the Timber Tapering Tool can also be mounted on a "lap board" for more portability. It can even do double duty as a keel-clamping device for small to medium hulls, supporting the hull during the superstructure, masting & rigging work. Length: 10-1/4" .
