Maplewood Hotel Maplewood Cottage Bethlehem NH Oriental Rug Review/Asian Trade is pleased to offer a small group of items, c. 1895 having to do with the Maplewood Hotel and Maplewood Cottage, Bethlehem, New Hampshire, which were managed by Leon H. Cilley. Grace and John Bickford, brother and sister, worked at Maplewood Hotel and Cottage, c. 1895. Their letters home and souveniers they acquired at the Maplewood have left us a rich archive of the great White Mountains resort Hotels era. Grace went on to work at a number of hotels, including Wentworth Hall in Jackson, NH. Grace and John got their jobs at the Maplewood through Lillian Frost who had worked there before, along with their mutual friend, Ted Childs. Eventually Lillian and John were married.(1.) Of the reclining men on the grass, John Bickford is the third in from the right, the man on John's immediate right is schoolmate Ted Childs.
