Hi there. I am selling this really amazing and super rare marble ammonite fossil. I bought them at a gem show in Arizona and it was found in Russia . LOOK BELOW FOR MANY LARGE PHOTOS Until I found these little guys, I had never seen anything like them before!Basically fossils are just the animals that have been replaced by rock. I hope it finds a good home out there. The fossil measures 11 mm by 9 mm by 5 mm. It weighs 3.33 carats, or 0.67 grams. Ammonites are an extinct group of marine animals of the subclass Ammonoidea in the class Cephalopoda, phylum Mollusca. They are excellent index fossils, and it is often possible to link the rock layer in which they are found to specific geological time periods. Ammonites' closest living relative is probably not the modern Nautilus (which they outwardly resemble), but rather the subclass Coleoidea (octopus, squid, and cuttlefish). Their fossil shells usually take the form of planispirals, although there were some helically-spiraled and non-spiraled forms (known as "heteromorphs").
