Early example of an old Pond Yacht. I've been told this is a Marblehead. M class. I know zip about these things, it just looked good in my office amongst all my fishing tackle and man cave stuff! I can imagine any one of you folks interested in pond sailing, fixing this up and running it at your next regatta. Please look at the pictures for overall condition. The bow has a chunk out of it. There is NO mast or sail. I see drilled holes in parts of the decking for rigging. Nails are missing from the hinge on the hatch. The vane steering "sail" appears to be rosewood...my guess. Boat weight is right at about 13 pounds, with the base, 21 pounds. Measures across the top of the deck, 49-1/4", 125CM. I dont know what the draft is. Beam is 8-1/2" at widest (approx). Keel is lead. Fittings are brass, including rudder. Email ANY questions or comments, please! NOTE: the finish is dull because it has a decade or so of dust on it.
For shipping...I'll take the vane steering off and stow it in a seperate box. Postage may show high on here but it's the actual (or less) cost! I don't add anything, although this item will take some care in packing. Please add insurance as you know they can sometimes get rough with stuff...no matter who ships it. If you are local, pick up is free! I can even meet you around town if you need that! Thanks fo looking and good luck bidding! There are ALOT of watchers...get your bids in! I just realized after reding my description...I need to add...this is a GENUINE antique pond boat...my ad suggests it to be an example...well I got it a few years ago at an estate sale, upscale, here in Houston Texas. The guy was an avid sailor and I purchased alot of his stuff. He was originally from the east coast. This boat is handmade, maybe from a kit or from drawings and its OLD. Patina on brass will show you thats so. Sorry for not finding the mast and sails...I looked and asked but they were nowhere to be found. Family members remembered him having it back to the early 1950's but he could have bought it used.
