This lot, A MARBLE CONSIGNMENT , consists of a 2-1/32" (52 mm) hand made "Sextuple Ribbon Core" (ca. 1850-1870) in Near Mint (8.6) condition with a couple as-made melt spots and an as-made pit, as well as light wear and pinpricking (examined, as always, under 20-power magnification with strong lighting). It has six outer pink, teal, and yellow bands spiraling around three interior pink ribbons alternating with three sets of white strands. The basal pontil is ground with faceting, the earliest finishing technique for hand made glass marbles.
