Nice old MARBLE'S #3 HAWK safety axe. Someone has cleaned the axe head, and the MARBLE'S logo is gone. The safety guard is stamped MARBLE SAFETY AXE CO. MFR. GLADSTONE, MICH. U.S.A. PAT( and I cannot make out the rest ). The metal handle is 11 1/4" thru the axe head, and the weight is 24.8 oz, so I will assume that it is a #3 even tho my book says that the #3 has a 12" handle? Axe head is 4 1/4" across and 2 5/16" across the bit. The axe head shows the outline of two holes w the handle is attached. The rubber handle scales read MARBLE'S SAFETY POCKET AXE and MF'D BY W.L.MARBLE GLADSTONR, MICH on one side, and The hound and rabbit on the other side. The safety guard swings free with out binding, and snaps tight. Handle scales show one star at top each side. The handle scale is cracked across at the upper screw head above the rabbit, and the upper screw head on the other side is cracked half way across, but still secure. All in all this is still a very nice old MARBLE'S safety axe. Ask all questiona before bidding. Per eBays new policy, payment to be via PayPal only. Insurance is optional, but recomended.
