Margaret Thatcher Signed Letter Dated 21/06/1974 addressed to Mrs Tew on headed House of Commons Paper. Reads as follows; "Dear Mrs Tew, Mr Humphrey Atkins, The Conservative Chief Whip, has passed you letter of 5th June on to me. I can quite understand the intense feelings aroused by the rate increases in some parts of the country. I believe that we really have come to the limit of both local and national taxation and people are beginning to feel that they just have not enough of their own money left when they have met the several imposts upon their incomes. In the Conservative Party we have set up a Committee to study all aspects of the rating system, including a study of alternative policies to the present system. However, we must be careful that the remedy is not as bad as the present disease. Yours sincerely Margaret Thatcher" Good condition, minor creases due to letter being folded at time of posting.
