THIS AUCTION IS A RELISTING IN RESPONSE TO A VERY NICE CORRESPONDENCE

PLEASE BE CLEAR THAT THIS IS NOT A PRINT BUT A SIGNED NUMBERED ORIGIONALARTISTS PROOF RELEASED IN 1929

perhaps a bit confused but as this item was relisted only on the request of someone who did not bid on the first listing it will not be relisted again and will be sent to the auction house that wanted to represent it if it is not sold in this auction. Please do not contact me after the auction end as I will assume that you are not seriously interested.

This auction is for an etching by the wonderful dog illustrator Marguerite Kirmse (1885 -1952). The subject as you can see from the picture is a child fishing in the company of a scotty dog. This piece is unmated and unframed as it is one of several etchings that I had professionally cleaned by a conservator in Portland Maine. It is on a paper that is 12 inches x 16 inches. The picture itself is about 9 inches x 12 inches. In pencil on the bottom left of the picture is written Him and Me. In pencil on the right is Marguerite Kirmse's signature. At the bottom in parenthesis are the numbers 27079. In the lower right corner is are the numbers 15525 over 30

When the pieces were cleaned this one was in very unloved condition and I was not sure if it could be saved even by someone that did restoration for museums. She did an amazing job in cleaning and stabalizing it but it was not able to be brought back completely and so is darker than origionally meant to be and in the top left does show if examined closely an area of greater darkness. You can see this in the photo. As she said if matted in a dark grey or dark color it will not be noticeable behind glass on a wall but I would know.
