Up for auction is a RARE piece of glass. It is Dugan's Christmas compote in marigold. Dugan made these compotes in the colors of purple and marigold, with marigold being the harder color to find. The compote was reproduced, but not in marigold. This compote is guaranteed to be vintage. The color runs from a deep marigold at the bottom of the compote to a pastel near the top, as most of these compotes do. The holly pattern covers the interior and exterior of the piece, with smooth rays running up from the bowl of the compote. Doty reports one of the compotes in marigold selling for $4500 last year, and $6700 in 2006. Now for the disappointing part. The compote does have a small bruise (crack) on the base. It is completely enclosed, and you can see it in the last picture. With this in mind my selling price is much less than what you would be expected to pay if it was in mint condition. Also keep this in mind. I am NOT a professional photographer. I took several pictures of the piece in different lighting conditions, and will be more than happy to supply other pictures if needed, provided you give me ample time to get them to you. I am a member of the Sunshine State Carnival Glass Association, and have been a member of the Heart of America Carnival Glass Association for a number of years. I am offering a three day return policy on this item. If you are not happy with the piece, simply return it within three days of receipt . All information will be disclosed to the winning bidder at the conclusion of the auction. The winning bidder will be contacted by email with shipping costs. The piece will be insured. I neglected to mention that while cleaning the compote, I discovered 2 tiny pin points on the interior of the bowl. They are about the size of a pencil point. They are very hard to find, but they are t I will be happy to send pictures to any interested bidder, but took these defects into consideration when setting my reserve. Also, please keep in mind that I am offering a 3 day return policy on the piece. If it is not as described, simply return it for a refund. I apologize for any confusion this has caused. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thanks!
